New Little Brother
Our girls had recently learned how to care for and dress their new little brother. They were so careful as he grew to get his little arms and legs in the right spot. It was something that we were careful to oversee and teach them the best way to get it done.
They learned well and it made them so happy to be able to help. We thought that it was good for them to learn the responsibilities of caring for a younger sibling.
We had no idea what it would lead to.
So we were a little shocked when we came in and saw what they were doing. They were doing puppy dress up. Even to the point of putting them in the baby bed.
Puppy Dress Up
They had taken the babies’ pajamas and dressed up the puppies. It was a little shocking when we first walked in and then we saw how careful they were being. They were as gentle as we could have been and it did look so cute.
Surprisingly the dogs did not seem to mind. They seemed to be enjoying the extra attention and were laying very still.
We explained to them that they should not use the puppies to dress up because they might get accidentally hurt. I am not sure that they stopped, but we never caught them again and soon the puppies were probably too big.
Not a good idea
The picture is really cute, but we do not recommend that pets be used as playthings. Children and “parents” need to be careful to not consider animals as playthings.
Please understand that I am not talking about dog coats and sweaters to help your pets stay warm. In some climates, your pet needs extra protection when outdoors.
There are also booties to protect their feet from heat and cold.
Just use what is needed for their welfare, not your entertainment.
