Driving at the Interstate can be a tad crazy. Cars are fast that a human can’t cross the street. Moreover, animals can be killed in an instant when they are hit by a speeding vehicle.
Also, it is impossible to drive slow at the Interstate. There is a speed limit, and when you go above or below the speed limit, you will be issued a violation ticket.
One police officer took the risk of stopping at the busy highway to rescue a puppy, which was hit by a car.
Officer Joseph Puglia of Pinellas Park Police Department in Florida witnessed how the puppy was hit by a car at Interstate 275. He was ready to pick up a dead dog until he noticed that it was still breathing.
The puppy was trying to cross the Interstate when he was hit by a speeding car.
Without ado, Officer Puglia acted immediately to save the helpless dog from being killed. He moved the patrol car to block the traffic. After the vehicles behind him stopped, Officer Puglia got out of the car to pick up the injured pup. He wrapped the dog in a blanket to keep it warm and rushed it to the nearest animal hospital for treatment.
While driving to the hospital, Officer Puglia thought of sending a radio message to the hospital staff. Once they arrived at Pinellas Animal Hospital, the dog was given a medical treatment immediately.
Thankfully, the dog survived the accident and had a full recovery. The dog only got minor cuts and bruises from that terrifying incident. The dog was named Lucky because of its survival in the accident.
Lucky didn’t have a microchip to locate his owner, so he was taken to the local animal shelter for adoption.
Police officers are true heroes! They won’t hesitate to help others, even animals who need help.
Thank you, Officer Puglia, for saving Lucky’s life!
