My first mistake
It all started out so innocent. While setting in my Lazy Boy I would pick up one of my beautiful pups and hold it in my lap.
Sometimes we would just take a nap together. No harm in that. Right?
At first, the others would just play around at my feet. They were completely happy. I was enjoying the comfort of their presence.
My home was my castle and I was in total control. My four puppies were great fun and well behaved.
They got bigger
The problem started when they got bigger. The ones on the floor started feeling left out. They wanted to all be held at the same time.
When they were little I could do that and everyone was happy.
You know how fast they grow. Four were too many to hold at one time. Even when they were still.
Soon I had no place to set because they got there first.
So in comes the second recliner
I would share my recliner with one or two of the pups. The others would share the extra Lazy Boy.
Problem solved! Right?
Well, it worked for a while but then the puppies became dogs. They still all wanted to sit in my lap, but even they realized it wouldn’t work.
As they got bigger even two recliners were not enough. So I bought more.
Now I have four
And you guessed it, each dog has claimed one as their own. If I want to sit in one that means one of the dogs pouts.
Should I buy five? The room is full.
So I have four Lazy boys and no place to set.
I found this news story by Kelly Bowles telling about a Galesburg shelter. They were putting recliners in for each dog. They thought that It would help the dogs get ready for a new home.
I guess it would! If someone like me adopted them.
