Dog running a marathon across the Gobi may be a first.
Running the Gobi with Gobi
Dion participated in a marathon, running across the Gobi desert in China.
All of a sudden, a little dog started following him, running the marathon by his side. The dog followed him the whole 77 miles of the marathon!
Dion immediately felt a special bond with the doggy and named her Gobi. She would spend time in his tent, being his companion throughout the whole race.
He called his wife to the UK and asked her if they could adopt the dog. His wife agreed, but there was still a lot ahead of them.
Gobi had to stay in quarantine for 5 months before traveling to the UK. Dion found someone to take care of Gobi for the time of the quarantine.
Everything was slowly falling into place, and Dion was convinced that after 5 months he would adopt Gobi.
Sadly, when he called the people who took care of Gobi, they told him she got lost.
Dion was heartbroken and truly devastated. Despite spending less than a week with Gobi, he felt they had a very special bond. Then he made an incredible decision. He decided to fly back to China and look for her!
People were astonished that he would travel all this way, to look for a little dog. After days of searching, talking to hundreds of people, and seeing many similar dogs, he finally found Gobi!
He received a phone call from a family who believed they found her. It truly was Gobi, and she was very happy to see him again.
5 Month Quarantine
What happened next was truly incredible! He knew that he wanted to keep her safe and happy, so he decided to spend 5 months of the quarantine with her.
After 5 months, Gobi was finally ready to travel to the UK to her forever home. She is very active, and always loves to accompany Dion when he is running.
But Dion decided to do more. He takes her with him to adventures all around the world.
