Cocker Spaniel On Broadway
A New York City Broadway star shares the spotlight with her adorable cocker spaniel named Dublin. The Broadway actress describes Dublin as a bit of a drama queen and says the dog enjoys going to work with her.
Lilli Cooper is a native New Yorker who got into Broadway acting at the age of sixteen. Lilli currently stars as Sandy Cheeks in the Broadway production of Spongebob, Squarepants. Every night, her cocker spaniel joins her backstage.
Lilli and her boyfriend, Paul McLoughlin, have had Dublin for three years. The couple commented on how New York can be a lonely place and how they were looking for something to fill their lives. They went to their local New York shelter and fell in love with the small cocker spaniel.
Loves to wake up and eat
Seven-year-old Dublin loves to wake up early every morning and eat a big breakfast. Afternoons for the dog are often spent at the park playing. At night, Dublin accompanies Lilli to work. Lilli said the cocker spaniel is a big part of the Broadway community.
Dublin arrives at work with his owner, and they go straight into Lilli’s dressing room. The cocker spaniel loves to hang out with Lilli while she gets ready for the show. Dublin will then walk around to other dressing rooms to greet the rest of the cast.
Cast members say Dublin brings a lot of joy to backstage life. While the cast adores Dublin, the Broadway fans might love him even more. There are always crowds of people waiting at the stage door for the friendly pup to come out and greet them. Check out this video on the broadway pup:
The gregarious dog stays close to Lilli when she exits the stage door, and then he takes time to greet all his fans and take photographs. Lilli says Dublin fits in perfectly with the Broadway community. The cocker spaniel is not afraid of the lights or the people or the loud sounds.
