Bella’s leg was broke. Afterward, her previous owner did take her to the vet but then ignored instructions to splint the leg and to give Bella her prescribed medication. So the leg never healed correctly.
When the leg didn’t heal quickly she was dropped off at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter.
They found two fractured bones in her right hind leg and a large older abscess in her hip area. These injuries caused too much damage and the leg was unable to be repaired. So it was removed.
Luck Findly Found Her
After her right hind limb was amputated, she healed well. She seemed happy and began to put a little weight back on.
George who volunteered at the shelter knew that his friend Judith had once had a tripod and thought she might like Bella. He told her she needed to go over to the shelter and check out this little tripod Chihuahua.
Judith said, “no way was I going to get another dog, and definitely not a chihuahua.” Once she saw Bella, she falls in love at first sight.
Bella Finds A New Home
Bella was 14 months old when Judith adopted her. As well as losing her leg, she had already had a litter of pups and suffered from large sores. She had not learned any commands and was afraid of anyone’s hand.
Under Judith’s loving care, she has vastly improved and is a happy girl. She is very sensitive and very intelligent. She is a joy. For a little dog who weighs 8 pounds, she has been through an awful lot.
You Can Make A Difference
Judith is so happy that she listened to George and took a chance. She now has a beautiful companion who loves her and who she loves. There is happiness all around.
You can find the same kind of blessing by visiting your local Animal Shelter and making friends with some of the beautiful animals they have up for adoption.
